Shirley Ruth Thayer, 72 of Horton, Kansas, passed away on May 8, 2014 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas.

She was born on March 2, 1942 in Horton, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Elsie Randall Long. On February 24, 1958 she married Mansel "Honey" Thayer in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2008. Shirley was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Mary) Thayer of Holton, Kansas and David Thayer of Larned, Kansas; step daughter, Wilma (Richard) Jacobs of Republic, Kansas; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Tri-County Manor Chapel in Horton, Kansas with Pastor Tom Stone officiating. Inurnment will at a later date at the Powhattan Cemetery. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dshon-maple-chaney.com
