Ronald A. “Ron” Montgomery, 75, of Denison, KS passed away June

7, 2014 at his home. He was born October 11, 1938 in Horton, the son of Maurice

and Helen (Mosher) Montgomery.

Ron grew up on farms in the Denison and Larkinburg communities. He

graduated from Holton High School in 1956, and served in the Kansas National

Guard receiving an honorable discharge in 1959. For a time he drove a truck for

Cal’s mobile homes, had worked at Goodyear and Santa Fe, but spent most of his

life as a self-employed carpenter, as well as farming and raising livestock for

several years. He loved fishing and working in his garden.

Ron married Elizabeth Irza in 1970, they later divorced. To this union were

born 4 children, Joe Montgomery, Jenny Degenhardt (Mark), Amy Montgomery

and Dan (Hali) Montgomery. He had 3 children from a previous marriage, Julie

Montgomery, Doug Parrett and Sam Parrett.

He married Mary Babb on June 12, 1997 in Holton. She survives. He is

survived by his children; 3 grandchildren, Dylan Wheeler, Brantly and Emma

Montgomery; a sister, Linda Sweany (Bruce); a nephew, Roger Sweany, and 2

nieces, Heather File and April Sweany.

 At Ron’s request, there will be no services. Memorials contributions

may be given to the American Heart Association c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
