Walter “Dale” Craig, 86, of Atchison KS died Friday, June 20th, 2014 at Atchison Senior Village.

Known for his love of family, golf, being ultra-organized, sitting on the porch swing with Twila during nice weather, Happy Hour at 4:00 p.m. and his gentle mannerisms.  He will be deeply missed.
 
Dale was born on November 25, 1927 in Munden, Kansas, the son of James “Walter” and Ethel Mae (Malstead) Craig.  Mr. Craig was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Sunflower Kiwanis Club, Pineview Country Club, and the Elks, Atchison.  Mr. Craig worked as a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad for 22 years, Prudential Life Insurance for 15 years as an Insurance Agent and as a salesman for Sheridan/Clayton Industry for 10 years.
 
He was married to Twila Mae Boyce on August 15, 1948 for 64 years before her death on September 26, 2012.  Survivors include two sons, Tom (Debra) Craig, Independence, Mo. and Paul (Carol) Craig, Wildwood, Mo, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, sister-in-law, nieces and a nephew.    He was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Bowman and Verna Stork.
 
The family would like to thank the Staff of Atchison Senior Village for the care he received while there since November, 2013.  Very special thanks to Mary Montgomery & Nelson Curry, Carol Wheatley and Mary Ballinger for their love and support during his illness.
 
Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11th, 2014, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Kollhoff officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The body has been cremated and interment of his cremated remains will follow the service at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences to the family be left online at www.beckerdyer.com
