Richardson County Commissioners approved two agreements concerning the hard surfacing of the Preston Road during their Tuesday meeting.
Commissioners approved agreements with the Nebraska Department of Roads regarding the Federal share of the funding of the project through Public Lands Highway Funds of $1,000,084 and Surface Transportation Program funds which will cover 50-percent of the remaining eligible costs.
No state funds will be expended for the project but the state will help Richardson County with various aspects of the project.
The total cost of the approximate four-mile project is estimated at $1,900,584. Richardson County’s share of the cost is currently estimated at $450,250.
Richardson County Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert says the road project is not expected to begin now until May of 2013. ( play audio :24 seconds )
