The Pawnee City Board of Education approved several expenditures when they met last week.
The board approved the final lease payment of $26,920 for student laptop computers purchased as part of the district’s one-to-one initiative. The board approved the purchase of 20 additional laptops for the incoming freshman class at a cost of $24,101.
The board approved the purchase of two sets of five-row bleachers, to replace the old visitor side bleachers at the football field, at a cost of $7,928. Superintendent Stephen Grizzle says the board approved spending up to $5,500 to make improvements to the jump pit and shot put areas at the track. (play audio :40)
Other purchases approved were $6,698 for 45 new desks and chars at the Elementary school, and a little more than $1,600 for new carpet in the High School office.
In other business, the Pawnee City School Board approved a motion to give year-round classified district employees the option of being added to the school’s insurance plan.
The board approved another motion to increase the number of members of the Pawnee City Public School Foundation Board to seven. The board unanimously approved a motion to appoint Marissa Kobza to a term on the Foundation Board, with the term to expire in 2016.
