Nebraksa Farm Land Sells for More Than 15 Million Dollars
(KLZA) Nine bidders agreed to pay $15.13 million Thursday for 1,855 acres of central Nebraska farmland that was being auctioned off.
The sale of irrigated land in three locations southwest of Hastings was one of the biggest in the state this year.
Most of the nine bidders were local farmers. Some tracts sold for more than $11,000 per acre, but in total the land drew $8156.33 per acre, on average
Broker Jim Hain with the Lund Company says this was the biggest farmland sale he can remember in central Nebraska.
Farmland values have been booming in Nebraska in recent years because strong corn and soybean prices helped farmers generate significant farm income.
Earlier this year, a 160-acre farm in Clay County in southern Nebraska has sold for $12,000 an acre.
