( KNZA )--The Brown County Commission has approved the hiring of two employees for Community Corrections.
Commissioners Monday gave Director Venice Sloan approval to hire Kelsey Merchant to fill the open juvenile intensive probation officer position. She will supervise youth in Brown and Doniphan Counties. Sloan said Kelsey had served as the supervisor of Community Corrections PACK program.
The commission also approved the hiring of Holly Merchant to become the new PACK program supervisor.
Sloan also discussed the Common Sense Parenting program they plan to begin in the community.
She said six individuals have been hired to be trained in and facilitate the program.
Commissioner’s accepted a proposal from Boys Town to provide the training at a cost of $12,715, which Sloan says will be covered by a grant.
