(KTNC) - Railroads are the subject of the latest exhibit at the Stalder Gallery in Falls City.
The Sheldon Museum of Art’s 2012-13 Statewide Exhibition, titled “Railroads and the Making of Modern America,” will open at the Stalder Gallery on Friday.
Sarah Feit, the Assistant Curator of Education at the Sheldon Museum, will speak about the exhibit at 7:00 p.m. Friday. The gallery, located in the Falls City Library, will open at 6:00 p.m.
The exhibit features works form the Sheldon Museum’s permanent collection. It examines the ways artists captured and shaped the modern ideas and practices made possible by the railroad.
“Railroads and the Making of Modern America” was originally organized by William Thomas, a Professor of History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, to coincide with publication of his book, “The Iron Way: the Civil War, Railroads, and the Making of Modern America.”
Friday’s talk is free and open to the public.
