(KNZA)--A special presentation, with donations accepted, during Monday evening's meeting of the USD 430 Board of Education.
Following regular business of the school board,for the South Brown County Schools, which included a vote of the board not to allow two students to bring their dogs to prom, as requested, a break was taken for the purpose of a special check presentation.
That follows the recent announcement that Everest farmer Dedra Bunck has won $5,000 in the Monsanto Fund-sponsored Farmers Grow Communities Competition.
Designated for donation to a non-profit organization, she was allowed to split the winnings and donate to two groups: the Student Council of Horton High School and the Willis All-Stars 4-H Club.

Also in attendance, to receive the large ceremonial checks, were members of the Student Council and young members of the 4-H Club.
USD 430 Superintendent Steve Davies thanked the Buncks, and Monsanto, for making the donation possible, stating that the Student Council members are already making plans for how the funds will be used.
