General Election Results

 ( KNZA )-Area voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide city and school board races.

In addition, two bond proposals were overwhelmingly approved.  Voters in Community Hospital District #1 approved a nearly $17.6 million bond issue to help fund the construction of a new facility at the Onaga Hospital and to upgrade the existing facility.  Voters in the Jeff County North school district approved a 2.5 million dollar bond issue to fund repairs and improvements to the district facilities.  

In contested Brown County races, Ken Krug was re-elected to another term on the Horton City Commission as finance commissioner.

Elected to the Fairview City Council were Art Vonderschmidt, Colby Rosenberger and Bridget Stone. 

Winning election to the Robinson City Council were Sharilyn Gilbert, Marsha Ganstrom, David Taylor, Angie Muckey and Jerry Allen.

In contested Doniphan County races, incumbents Vernie Coy and Jason Taylor along with Thomas Smith won election to the Highland Community College Board of Trustees.

Elected to the Doniphan West USD 111 board in District 2 were incumbent Thomas Albers, Carla Johnson and Brad Holzhey.

Tina Kimberlin will retain the District 1 position on the Riverside USD 114 Board.

Elected to the USD 114 Board in District 2 were Tyler Miller, Tim Smith and Barbara Derrick.

Elected to the Troy USD 429 Board were Barbara Winder, Jennifer Luedke and Nikia Weber.

George Mitchell Junior was re-elected as Elwood Mayor and re-elected to the Elwood City Council were Dennis Smith and Micheal Geeting.

Write-in candidate Billy Lynn Frump was elected as Severance mayor.

Wathena will have a new mayor.  Brian Walker defeated incumbent Robert Ryser by 15 votes.

Elected to the Wathena City Council were Tom Miller, Joseph Barger and Craig Grable.

In contested Jackson County races, Dan Brenner was elected to the  the Holton City Commission in a three-way race to fill the position currently held by Rich Mulroy who didn’t seek re-election.

Penny Ludlow was re-elected as Soldier Mayor.

Elected to the Hoyt City Council were Lana Dillner and Ed Ryan.

Allen Arnold won re-election to position four on the Holton USD 336 Board.

There will be two new members on the Royal Valley USD 337 Board. Jeff Stithem won a three way race for position 5 and Ann Kelly was elected to position 6.

In contested Nemaha County races, Doug Clark was re-elected as Sabetha mayor.

Jean Placke won re-election to position six on the Nemaha Central USD 115 Board.

Elected to the Centralia City Council were Matthew Wells, Jay Gibbs and Eric Osterhaus.

Winning re-election to the Corning City Council were Curtis Rempe, Jackie Heideman and Carol Cox.

In contested Marshall County races, Robert Mitchell was re-elected to position 5 on the Vermillion USD 380 board and Mark Huerter was elected to position six.

Winning election to the Marysville USD 364 board were Chris Denner, Marc Degenhardt and Steven Schotte.

Re-elected to position four on the Valley Heights 498 Board was Sharon Osborne.

Elected to the Ward 3 Marysville City Council seat was Vicky Gross and Dennis Schroller was elected to the Ward 4 council seat.   

The results are unofficial until the ballots are canvassed by the county commissions in each county Monday.
