04/03/2013

(KAIR) -- An area Kansas legislator reacts to the news of low voter turnout in his district in Tuesday’s general election.

Representative Jerry Henry of Cummings says the six-point-five percent turnout in Atchison County is concerning.

Hearings have taken place in the Legislature this session about potentially moving the city/school board election to the same time as the November general election every two years. (Play Audio)

Henry says it could be a while before a proposal comes to the floor for potential action. (Audio Continues)

Atchison County Clerk Pauline Lee has been involved with elections in the county for 40 years and says Tuesday’s turnout is the lowest she can remember.
