(KLZA) A southeast Nebraska deputy was injured Friday in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 41 near Sterling.
The Nebraska State Patrol says 28-year-old Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Schroeder was responding to a call to assist another deputy in apprehending a fugitive who was allegedly running from law enforcement when he lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle slid into an oncoming semi.
Sterling Fire & Rescue as well as Adams Fire responded to the scene.
Deputy Schroeder was extricated from his patrol vehicle, and taken by medical helicopter to Bryan West in Lincoln where he is listed in fair condition.
The accident was reported around noon Friday.
