(KTNC) - Main Street Falls City has received accreditation as a National Main Street Program for 2013. The Falls City Main Street organization was recognized for meeting the commercial district revitalization performance standards set by the National Main Street Center.
Falls City Main Street Executive Director Eric Barr says they met ten standards. (play audio :44)
Barr says the national accreditation indicates the local organization is functioning well and making progress.
Falls City Main Street officials are waiting to hear if they’ll receive a planning grant from the Department of Economic Development as they prepare for the next phase of the downtown revitalization project. Barr says DED representatives will conduct a site visit sometime in June and will make a decision on the grant later this summer.
Barr is also conducting research as he prepares to write an application to have the downtown Falls City declared an historic district. The application deadline for that is July 1st. Barr explains the timeline for the application after that. (play audio :32)
This is the second consecutive year that Main Street Falls City has received the National Accreditation, as they also received the accreditation in 2012.
