05/08/2013

( KNZA )-Longtime Doniphan County Appraiser Dean Butrick is retiring.
Butrick told the county commission Monday that he plans to retire July 1st after 34-years of service.
The commission thanked Butrick for his dedicated years of service and agreed to advertise to fill the vacancy.
In other business, Undersheriff Mark Allen gave the commission a proposal from e-Dispatches for the purchase of a countywide voice notification dispatch system.
Allen said when the 911 dispatch tones out a call for fire or EMS, the call is recorded and automatically transmitted via voice and text to an individuals home and cell phone.
The annual cost of the system is just over three thousand dollars plus a one-time start up cost of nearly 13-hundred dollars.
The commission approved the purchase of the dispatch system for use by members of the Doniphan County Fire Districts and EMS personnel.  Funding will come from the 911 fund.
Sheriff Chad Clary presented the board with bids to install an interior stairwell for roof top access at the county law enforcement center.
The commission accepted the low bid from Lee Grover Construction in the amount of just over $13,000.   It was among three bids received.
The commission also approved the purchase of an alarm for the interior door for the roof top access from Metroplex Control Systems in the amount of nearly $6,000.
Funding for both will come from the new sales tax fund.
