(MSC News)--The names of the two victims killed in a fatal Thursday morning crash, on I-29, South of Saint Joseph, have been made public.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Seargeant Sheldon Lyon says 43-year-old Phun Bik of Kansas City, Kansas and his wife, 37-year-old Rose Mery Thlia, were killed in the crash.
Bik was driving a northbound van transporting nine other passengers, when he struck the back of a tractor trailer that had stopped for an unrelated accident.
Before colliding with the trailer, the van struck another car.
Thlia and Bik died on the scene.
The eight van passengers, as well as the driver of the car, identified as Bellevue, Nebraska resident Lakisha Coleman, were taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph.
Sgt. Lyon says seven people in the van suffered serious injuries, while Coleman's injuries are listed as minor.
The highway patrol also confirmed that all 10 people in the van were workers at Triumph Foods in St. Joseph.
Both northbound lanes were closed for nearly five hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
