Mound City Aldermen Approve Bid to Wire New Street Lights
05/13/2013

(KTNC) - Mound City Aldermen have awarded a bid to install electric service for three new streetlights on Ridge and View Drive.
Aldermen last week accepted the bid from Hall Construction in the amount of $2,351 to trench and lay conduit for the lights.  KCP-and-L will set the poles, pull wire through the conduit, and connect the lights.
Two new lights will be on the east side of Ridge Drive and the other will be on the north side of View Drive at Route N.
Aldermen also accepted the bid of $2,500 from J-and-E Concrete to replace the storm sewer inlet at 5th and State Streets.
And they approved a motion to renew liquor licenses for Kwik Zone, George’s C-Store, Terri’s Place, Quackers, The Klub, and Dollar General.
Jerry Diggs, with Quackers, questioned why the liquor license fee for his business had increased seven-fold, while rates for others had only doubled.  Mayor Chris Krueger explained that all the fees were increased to one-and-a-half times the state fee, so the percentage increase varied based on each particular license classification.  Quackers is classified as a “resort” license, the same as The Klub, with a renewal fee of $450.
