Nemaha NRD Board Approves Well Permits
05/14/2013

(KTNC) - The Nemaha Natural Resources District Board approved eight well permit applications during its meeting last week.  The well permits, all for irrigation purposes, were the first to be approved since the Board voted in April to lift a stay on the construction of new wells.
All eight wells that were approved scored above the minimum 201 points required for approval under the new ranking system set up in the district’s groundwater rules and regulations.
The wells approved included three each in Richardson and Lancaster Counties, and one each in Johnson and Otoe Counties.
The board also approved the bid of $3,360 from Torco Enterprises of LaVista to repair a structure east of Cook in Johnson County.  The work includes excavation, earth fill, and installing an erosion mat, which will be supplied by the NRD.  The work will be completed by the end of June.
