(KLZA) An open house was held last Thursday at SUNMART in Falls City to honor Randy Gottula who is retiring after owning SUNMART and the former Hinky Dinky grocery store in Falls City for the past 23 years.  Overall Gottula has spent more than 40 years in the grocery business in Falls City, Auburn and Nebraska City.

Randy and Lori Gottula purchased the store in 1990 and helped oversee transformations in ownership and an addition to the store during the past 23 years.  Randy says the decision to move to Falls City has been a good one.  ( play audio :05 seconds )

SUNMART is one of the largest employers in Falls City and certainly one of the places where teenagers are able to get their first taste of being a member of the workforce.  Gottula says seeing the young people move on to be successful is one of the things he is proudest of.  ( play audio :46 seconds)

Randy says while he is retiring from the grocery business he and Lori will remain active in the community and of course helping out with the local sports broadcasts on SUNNY 101.3 and on A-M 1230, KTNC. ( play audio :10 seconds )

Randy’s last day at SUNMART is Saturday, June 15th.  Be sure to wish him well as you do your shopping this week.
