(KLZA) The Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer School Board further narrowed down what is being considered for an addition to the Humboldt site that would include a fitness center. The HTRS Booster Club has been raising funds for a fitness center facility. Monday night an 11 member committee that includes three member of the HTRS School Board made a recommendation that was approved to further study putting such an addition on the north side of the gymnasium. Superintendent Clint Kimbrough explained this area made more sense than building across the street west, in the school parking lot. ( play audio :17 seconds )
The approval does not yet mean the project has been approved by the Board, but the possibilities of what will be looked at are narrowed. Kimbrough said the architect helping with the design presented a plan with a lot of options in addition to a fitness center. ( play audio :50 seconds )
Building on the north side of the existing building also makes it easier to get water and sewer service to the addition. More committee meetings will be held on the proposal.
Superintendent Kimbrough also discussed the possibility of placing a modular building at the Table Rock site to ease space needs there. ( play audio :45 seconds )
The Superintendent said there are a number of possibilities that need to be researched before moving forward. ( play audio :18 seconds )
The HTRS Board also approved the classified staff salaries for the upcoming school year. A 2.5 percent pay increase was approved matching raises approved for teachers and the administration.
