Falls City School Board Discusses Board Vacancy
07/23/2013

(KTNC) - The Falls City Board of Education spent about half an hour Monday night discussing candidates who applied to fill the vacancy on the board.

Board president Scott Hollens said  four people applied for the position – June Bowers, Tedd Gilkerson, Kevin Scheitel, and Amanda Young.

The board took no action to appoint a new board member, but appeared to reach a consensus to appoint Gilkerson to fill the vacancy created by the death of longtime board member Kathy Bartek. Gilkerson has twice run for a seat on the Falls City School Board.

The board will take formal action to appoint a board member at its regular August meeting.

The person appointed would serve on the board until the 2014 general election, and would then have to be elected to fill the final two years of the term through 2016.
