(KAIR)--Nine counts of criminal damage to property—that's what two juveniles are facing after being arrested in connection with a string of recent tire slashings in Atchison.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says officers spotted juveniles walking in the area of 8th and Riley early Monday morning.
Wilson says the two were identified, released, but picked back up after they were connected to three separate criminal damage incidents that were reported at daybreak on Monday.
Further investigation led to more criminal damage charges for the juveniles.
Those charges stem from six tire slashings reported along Laramie, Parallel, Atchison, and Mound Streets over the past two and half weeks.
Wilson says the crime spree was random, and resulted in 15-hundred dollars worth of damage.
The juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were released to juvenile intake.
