Seneca City Council Approves Budget
08/08/2013

(KMZA)--The Seneca City council held the 2014 budget hearing Wednesday night. After drawing no public comments and closing the hearing, the council approved the 2014 budget by unanimous vote. The budget has the same mill levy as this year’s budget of 32.228 mills. Seneca City Administrator Matt Rehder said that because the city’s tax valuation has increased by about $950,000 the city was able to keep the mill levy the same with no increase.

In another matter, a motion was approved to re-zone lots 6 to 10 of the Vitt addition located on the west side of Seneca from A-1 Agriculture District to a R-3 Multiple Family Dwelling District. The request was made by resident Brett Ohlsen, he plans to build his own home on the property and develop the rest of the lots into residential homes.

Seneca City Superintendent Brian Ruske told the council that the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department is seeking new volunteers. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and live within a 2 mile radius of the Seneca City limits. For more information about volunteering, call the city office at 336-2427.
