(KTNC) - The Falls City Board of Education welcomed a new member Monday night. Tedd Gilkerson was formally appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of longtime board member Kathy Bartek. Gilkerson was one of four people who applied to fill the vacancy. His appointment is until the next general election, in 2014.
In action items Monday night, the Falls City Board set the date for public hearings on the 2013-2014 district budget and property tax request for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9.
The board approved the final reading of revised policies pertaining to teacher evaluation and evaluation of principals. The board approved a contract with Kathleen Titus to be a kindergarten teacher at North School.
And the board approved a motion to adopt the new state Social Studies standards. The new standards are similar to the previous standards. One change is the addition of more economics to social studies than the previous standards.
