(KAIR/KNZA)--A 30-year-old Atchison man, named as a person of interest in recent Brown County criminal activity, is now in Atchison County custody, arrested in connection with a case of theft and suspected arson.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says John Andereson was arrested in connection with the theft of a trailer and boat dating back to June 8th. At that time, an elderly Atchison man reported that his boat and trailer were taken from a vacant lot at the 10000 block of South Sixth Street. Around the same time, police received a report from a thirty five year old man that his camper trailer had been taken from the same lot. Within hours of the reports, officials recovered both items in a rural lot south of the city.
Wilson says the boat, was found to be damaged, while the trailer was completely destroyed by fire. It's alleged that Anderson committed the damage, and faces theft charges in Atchison and a charge of arson in Atchison County.
He's currently held in the Atchison County Jail on $10,000 bond. However, it's likely to climb higher due to a pending charge of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer.
On August 22nd, the Brown County Sheriff's Department issued an attempt to locate Anderson, already wanted in that jurisdiction for burglary.
