(KNZA)--The Jackson County Commission has decided to end the county’s partnership with the Sabetha-based Rural Development Association of Northeast Kansas.

During their regular meeting this week, the commission signed a letter that will be sent to the RDA informing the economic development organization they won’t be entering into an agreement with them for 2014.

The county signed an agreement with the RDA in October 2011 to provide economic development services for Jackson County.  That came after the county cut ties with the Jackson County Development Corporation, citing concerns with administrative fees and accountability.

Commissioners have previously stated they’ve been unhappy with the services provided by RDA.

For this year, the county’s contract with the RDA was for $30,000.  In addition, the county currently also pays $6,000 annually to the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce to serve as a point of contact for the RDA in the county.
