(KTNC)--Charges have been filed against the driver of a car that collided with a horse-drawn buggy in a fatal crash near Pawnee City.
56-year-old Vivian Cockrell of Pawnee City has been charged with motor vehicle homicide and violating a learner’s permit in connection with the July 21 crash that killed 17-year-old Rueben Yoder and injured his 20-year-old sister, Fannie Yoder.
Cockrell was driving a Cadillac that struck the Yoder’s buggy on Highway 8/50 early in the morning hours on July 21.
Motor vehicle homicide is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Cockrell is due in Pawnee County Court for a preliminary hearing on the afternoon of October 17.
