(KAIR)--Plans for the second of three demolition blasts for the former US 59 Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge have been finalized.
The Kansas Department of Transportation released a statement Tuesday afternoon with the details. The blast will take place on Friday afternoon at 2:00, which is a change from the original time of 9:00 in the morning.
In addition, the 1,000 foot no man blast zone has been reduced to a 500 foot radius around the demolition area for the blast on Friday. Those wishing to view the event should be in place in the viewing area no later than 1:30 that afternoon.
The first demolition blast will still take place Wednesday morning at 9:00. Once again, KDOT reminds residents that the new Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge will close to all traffic starting at 8:00 that morning, and reopening no later than 10:00.
The public will be able to view each demolition from the Riverside Park or Veteran’s Park area located off River Road via Commercial Street just north of Mueller’s Bar & Grill.
