K of C Tootsie Roll Drive Set For Weekend
10/10/2013

(KNZA)--If someone offers you a Tootsie Roll on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, they're probably doing so on behalf of the Knights of Columbus and their annual outreach to raise funds, and awareness, for the intellectually disabled.

The annual intiative, known as “Helping People With Intellectual Disability Days,” but commonly called “the Tootsie Roll Drive,” is planned for the three days, as proclaimed recently by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback.

Tony Tanking, District Director for the Knights of Columbus, who oversees the local Kansas region, says volunteers will be spread out across the region, based at various locations, handing out the Tootsie Rolls.  While there's no requirement to give, any donation of any size is appreciated, with those funds to be used in local communities.

Tanking says locations where Knights of Columbus representatives will likely be based include high school football games and heavily trafficed retail locations.
