Atchison Hospital Closes Effingham Clinic
10/11/2013

(KAIR)--Effingham residents will soon have to go outside of the city for routine medical care.
According to the Newsleaf, Atchison Hospital CEO John Jacobson recently informed community leaders of the decision to close the community clinic, which takes effect immediately.
The clinic is closing due to a decline in patient activity over the past few years, as well as difficulty in continuing to fund maintenance for the facility.
Jacobson also explained that the resignation of clinic provider Michelle Pruessner, PAC,
factored into the decision.
Jacobson calls the decision  a difficult one, saying the hospital values its relationship with the residents of Effingham.
To accommodate patients from the Effingham clinic, Atchison Internal Medicine and Family Practice clinic are both accepting new patients. For an appointment, you may call 913-367-7300 of 913-360-1623.
