(KTNC) - The City of Humboldt is still accepting bids for proposals to abate nuisance properties in town. The city council was scheduled to open bids Tuesday night, but the city did not receive any bids, so the city is again advertising for bids from companies interested in doing the work.
Sealed bids can be submitted to the City of Humboldt until November 19. Bids will be opened at the City Council meeting that evening.
The city council did take action on nuisance abatement Tuesday. They approved a resolution to rescind a nuisance declaration against one property that has been cleaned.
Rescinding declared nuisances will be an agenda item for the Humboldt City Council again in two weeks, as that is the deadline for property owners who asked for an extension to make needed repairs.
In other action Tuesday, the Humboldt City Council approved the police contract with Richardson County. The three-year contract contains a three-percent annual increase in the contract amount.
The council approved a contract with Layne Western to rehabilitate the existing city wells at a cost of $8,110.
The council requested more information from the Auditorium Board before approving a contract to repair the Auditorium roof.
Dennis Crispin was at the meeting representing the Auditorium Board. He told the council that money has been pledged to cover the costs of the roof repairs.
The council asked the Auditorium Board to get something in writing from organizations that have pledged money for the Auditorium roof.
The council also questioned a provision in the contract that says any problems that arise with the repairs would be resolved in a Pennsylvania court. The council wants that
changed to the Nebraska court system.
The Auditorium Board has contracted with the Centi-Mark Company of
Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, to fix the Auditorium roof.
