11/14/2013

(KLZA) -- The Auburn School Board approved the purchase of a used school bus when they met this week. A 2011 Thomas Built bus was purchased for $60,000.  The 53 passenger bus will haul 53 passengers and has 28,500 miles on it. Superintendent Kevin Reiman noted this bus will replace the one recently involved in a wreck.

Board members also approved more improvements at the school district owned movie theater in downtown Auburn.  A $15,000 USDA Rural Development Grant will be used to pay for the upgrades including improvements to the sound system and lighting.

Auditor Julie Bauman presented the annual audit to the Auburn School Board members noting the district is in good financial shape.

Marla Jones presented information on her robotics class she teaches.  She was awarded an Auburn Public School Foundation Grant for the program taught in the 6th grade.

The lease of the McGrew Farm Ground was renewed with Mark Harms for three years.  Harms will pay the school district $22,800 over that period for renting the ground.  The annual Auburn Sports Boosters annual report was also given by their President Amy Harmon.

A number of policies were reviewed and either updated or deleted.  An executive session was held to discuss personnel and negotiations.
