(KNZA)--An increased attempt by scammers, claiming to work on behalf of Medicare, is being reported in Brown County.
Sheriff John Merchant says he has received a number of concerns from local residents regarding a caller with a foreign accent claiming to work for Medicare.
The caller claims the would be victims will receive a new Medicare card once proper information is provided. The caller then reads off the persons address, and then requests bank account information.
Merchant says no one locally has provided that info, and reminds anyone who might receive the call to reveal nothing personal and to simply hang up on the caller.
