Former Jackson Co Employee Enters Plea in Theft Case
11/15/2013

(KNZA)--A former Jackson County employee has pleaded no contest to stealing $16,000 in county funds.

Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 40-year-old Janette Fund, of Delia, entered the plea Friday in Jackson County District Court to 20 felony counts of making false information and 20 counts of misdemeanor theft.

In exchange for the plea, 140 additional counts were dismissed.  Miller says Fund has agreed to pay full restitution.  Sentencing is set for December 13th.

Fund was arrested in September following an investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

She was an administrative assistant in the county's noxious weed, landfill and recycling departments from April 2011 until July, when the sheriff says she was caught with missing cash that should have been deposited

Authorities say the thefts went on for two years.  Fund was accused of falsifying accounts to cover the losses.
