(KNZA)--The Hiawatha Police Department has received a $750 donation from the Atchison Elks Lodge.
Police Chief John Defore says Captain Dennis Entrikin accepted the donation during the annual Elks Lodge dinner last week in Atchison. Defore says the donation will aid the police department in the purchase of DUI and illegal drug education materials for youth in the community.
He noted the award won’t have been possible without the efforts of Hiawatha city employee Angela Entrikin who made the contacts with the Elks Lodge representatives.
The Atchison Elks Lodge presented a total of $4,000 to the police and sheriff’s departments of Atchison, Hiawatha and Leavenworth.
