Squirrel Disrupts Leavenworth Co Thanksgiving
11/29/2013

(AP)--Westar Energy says a squirrel is to blame for a power outage that affected more than 3,000 customers across Leavenworth County Thursday morning.

The company made use of its Twitter and Facebook accounts to keep customers updated, and to post an apology for affects on Thanksgiving cooking.

The Kansas City Star reports the squirrel worked its way into a substation where it caused fuses to blow.

Service was restored to the majority of customers by 12:30 Thursday afternoon.
