(KNZA)--A Sabetha man is facing multiple charges—including arson.
Sabetha Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck says 41-year-old Frank Cooper Jr. was arrested Sunday after officers responded to a residence several times that day in connection with domestic related incidents. He said during the last call, officers found several objects had been destroyed at the residence and some clothing set on fire.
Wahwasuck says following Cooper’s initial arrest, consent was given to search the residence and a small baggie containing suspected drug residue was seized.
He says Cooper allegedly tried to escape from officers after being placed in a patrol car. Wahwasuck said despite being handcuffed behind his back and being seatbelted in, Cooper somehow got out of the vehicle. He attempted to hid from officers by rolling under a nearby tarp, but was located.
Cooper was booked into the Nemaha County Jail on charges of arson, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. Wahwasuck says Cooper is expected to face additional charges. The case will be turned over to the Nemaha County Attorney for review.
