(KAIR)--Three local students may soon be on their way to one of the nation’s four prestigious military academies. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins issued a press release Thursday with the names of students from the second Congressional district who she has nominated for appointment to the U.S. Service academies.

Jenkin's nominations included Eamon Mullholland from Atchison who is nominated to attend the U.S Navel academy, Maxamillyan Badgett from Valley Falls who is nominated to attend the Air Force academy, and Amara Drew from Leavenworth, who has been nominated to attend all four academies.

Jenkins was aided in the nomination process by her non-partisan Military Academy Nominations Board. Her nomination does not guarantee admission to a service academy. According to the press release, these nominees will now compete for selection to the class of 2018.
