Southeast Nebraska Tourism Council Recognized
12/13/2013

(KTNC)--The Nebraska Tourism Commission has selected the Southeast Nebraska Tourism Council as the Outstanding Tourism Association in Nebraska.
The southeast Nebraska group was recognized at the annual Nebraska Travel Conference in Norfolk.
The Southeast Nebraska Tourism Council covers 12 counties, including Richardson, Pawnee, Nemaha, Johnson, Otoe, and Gage.  It has been promoting tourism in the southeast corner of the state for more than 25 years.
In presenting the award, the Nebraska Tourism Commission said the organization does a “great job of encouraging visitors to take multi-day trips resulting in overnight stays and dollars being spent in the communities.”
Current Southeast Nebraska Tourism Council projects include installation of barn quilts in all 12 counties, gathering the Native American information in each county, and self-guided tours and bus tours of the area.  Information about the tours is available on the website, visit southeast Nebraska dot org.
The organization also publishes the free Southeast Nebraska Travel Guide, which has information on all communities in the 12 counties.  The 2014 edition of the Travel Guide will be available in January.
