Coordinator Hired For Highland Western Center

(KNZA)--A Coordinator has been selected for the Highland Western Center.

Chosen to oversee Highland Community College's future operations based in the B&B High School Facility is Cara Baker.

She will be responsible for helping to orchestrate operations of the college's new location, which will deliver technical education opportunities on the western side of the Highland service area.

The B&B High School was acquired by the college through use of a federal Title III grant, which will allow the development of technical coursework for associate degrees and certificates that allow students to go to work right away. They would also have the option to transfer to a bachelor’s degree institution.

On top of that, the grant will allow Highland to develop the only Precison Agriculture program in the state of Kansas.

Baker is no stranger to the area where she'll be providing oversight, having graduated from Marysville High School and Kansas State University.

She comes to Highland Community College from Nemaha Valley High School where she serves as the Career and Technical Education Coordinator, while also teaching Business and Computer courses.

Despite her role at Highland, Baker will continue her work at Nemaha Valley, teaching there for two days a week through the middle of March when she assumes her new position with the college on a full-time basis.
