(KMZA)--A preliminary hearing is now scheduled for February for a former Sabetha man facing felony counts arising while serving time in the Nemaha County Jail.
Christopher Sperling faces felony counts of trafficking contraband into a correctional facility and conspiracy to commit aggravated escape from custody.
Sperling's preliminary hearing related to those charges is now set for the afternoon of February 12th.
Authorities alleged that Sperling and fellow inmate Eugene Ackerman, of Baileyville, conspired between March 6th and June 5th to escape from custody.
Authorities say a number of shanks were found during a jail inspection on June 5th, leading to the charges.
Sperling is also facing charges for the sexual exploitation of a child, arrested in January by the Sabetha Police Department. Arraignment on those charges has been continued until the morning of January 30th in Nemaha County District Court.
