Falls City Mayor Running for Sheriff
12/27/2013

(KTNC) --  The Mayor of Falls City will be running in the 2014 Primary Election, but for a different office. Tim Hersh has filed papers to run for Richardson County Sheriff.
Hersh is a Republican, which means he’ll be running against incumbent Sheriff Randy Houser in the primary election. Houser announced his intention to seek a second term earlier this month.  Houser is in his first term as Richardson County Sheriff, having been elected to the position in 2010.  Hersh was elected Mayor of Falls City in 2010.
Two candidates have filed to run for Mayor – current City Council president Jerry Oliver and former city employee Charles Bentley.
The deadline for incumbents to file to run in the Nebraska Primary is February 18.  That includes officeholders who are seeking another elective position.  The deadline for non-incumbents to file to run in the primary is March 3.
