(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central Board of Education accepted the resignations of two long-time teachers during a special meeting last week.
The board accepted the resignation of Mike Terpening effective the end of the school year. Terpening has taught science at Nemaha Valley High School for 29 years and also coached throughout his tenure.
The board also approved the resignation of Cara Baker who has accepted a position with Highland Community College as director of the Highland Western Center. Baker will continue to work part-time at Nemaha Valley High School until mid-March. She will finish her supplemental positions as SADD sponsor, Yearbook sponsor and Junior Class head sponsor through the end of the year. Baker has taught business and computer classes at Nemaha Valley High School for the past 15 ½ years.
After some minor changes as requested by the board at the regular December meeting, members approved the contract for sale of the B&B building to Highland Community College. The closing date will be no later than May 30, 2014. The
board also officially approved sale of the B&B football field to Judith Deters for $9,000. The 7.5 acres was originally owned by relatives of the Deters family.
