MLK's Legacy To Be Remembered In Atchison
01/20/2014

(KAIR)--On the third Monday of January each year, the nation pauses to remember the legacy of late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Atchison residents will have a chance to celebrate the life of Dr. King Monday evening. Reverend Rachael Dannar says the service will be a standard style worship service, with some video clips of some of Dr. King's more famous speeches shown as well.

Dannar further states that the ideals preached by Dr. King should still be remembered today, 45 years after his untimely death; that it is important to remember that we are still fighting against injustices in the world, and there are people out there whose call and mission is to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

The Atchison MLK remembrance event will start at 6:30 Monday evening with a march from City Hall to the United Methodist Church, where the service will start at 7:00.

The service is free, and everyone is invited to attend.
