(KNZA)--A Topeka woman convicted for her role in the murder of a Mayetta man last January found herself back behind bars Saturday.
The Topeka Capital Journal reports 24-year-old Desiree Shopteese was arrested early Saturday morning by Topeka police on suspicion of identity theft, transporting an open container of liquor and obstruction. She was also arrested on a Shawnee County warrant in a 2012 DUI case.
Topeka police say Shopteese was arrested after a traffic stop and had another person’s ID on her.
As of Saturday afternoon, she remained in the Shawnee County Jail on a total bond of $4,500.
Shopteese was among five people charged in connection with the January 10th, 2013 shooting death of 29-year-old Kevin Stanley at his Mayetta home.
She was originally charged with second-degree murder in the case, but pled guilty last April in Jackson County District Court to a reduce charge of obstructing apprehension of prosecution. In May, Shopteese was given a suspended prison sentence and placed on 18 months supervised probation. However, in July her probation was revoked and she was ordered to serve 60 days in the Jackson County Jail for violating terms of her probation.
