Alyssa Henry Jackson Co Spelling Bee Champion
(KNZA)--Jackson Heights 8th grader Alyssa Henry is the 2014 Jackson County spelling bee champion.
Eleven students representing Jackson Heights, Holton and Royal Valley Schools competed in the spelling bee Saturday in the Jackson Heights High School gym.
Taking 2nd place was Jackson Heights 7th grader Alyssa Montgomery and capturing 3rd place was Royal Valley 8th grader Jewell Cadue.
Henry will now advance to the regional spelling bee to be held Saturday, March 8th in Topeka.
The winner of that event will earn an all-expense paid trip to the national spelling bee in Washington D.C. May 25th-31st.
