(KNZA)--A near century-old house in Highland has been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places.
During their meeting Saturday, the Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review voted to forward nine nominations—including the house located at 307 South Avenue in Highland--to the Office of the Keeper of the National Register of Historic Places in Washington D.C. to be evaluated by its professional stafff
The Craftsman bungalow was nominated for its local significance in the area of architecture.
Abram Minier, a grandson of John Bayless, a founder of Highland, commissioned construction of the house in 1916.
The National Register of Historic Places is the country’s list of historically significant properties.
