(KAIR)--An arrest has been made in connection with an alleged case of child abuse that reportedly happened early last week in Atchison.
Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckleman confirms that 20-year-old Brett Betts of Atchison was taken into custody by the Atchison Police Department Thursday morning.
Kuckleman says Betts is facing felony charges of child abuse and aggravated battery after he allegedly shook the four-month-old. According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, the child was transported to Kansas City's Children's Mercy Hospital last Thursday, and police were notified of the child's condition the following day. That's when the investigation was launched by police, leading to the arrest of Betts.
Bett's bond has been set at $50,000 and he's scheduled to make his first appearance in court Friday morning.
