(KNZA )---St. Joseph Police have released details on an officer involved deadly shooting in the city.
Police say officer Patrick Zeamer shot and killed 47-year-old John Weipert Monday evening during a domestic disturbance call in the 15-hundred block of South 41st Street.
Investigators says Weipert was intoxicated, armed with a gun, and threatening suicide.
KQTV reports a St. Joseph Police negotiator tried to get Weipert to surrender, but police say he refused to comply. Shots were fired after police say threatening acts were made toward officers at the scene.
Weipert was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, where he was pronounced dead.
Zeamer, a 7-year veteran of the St. Joseph Police Department, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a joint investigation of the department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
