(KNZA)--Brown County is preparing for this summer’s chip and seal road projects.
The County Commission Monday accepted the low bid from Kansas City, Missouri-based Vance Brothers for the purchase of about 500,000 gallons of RS-1H oil for $1.99 a gallon delivered. It was among three bids received.
Commissioner Warren Ploeger said the price is the same as what the county paid last year. He said the county will be chip-sealing about 90 to 100 miles of roadway this year.
In other business, bids were opened for the purchase of tubes of various sizes for the county’s three road districts.
The commission accepted the low bid from Salina-based Welborn Sales, Inc. for a total of $39,489. Bids were received from 5 companies.
Following a closed-door session, the commission approved District 3 road crewman Bruce Kleppe’s return to light duty work, effective immediately. Kleppe was off work due to a non-work related injury and was cleared by his doctor to return to light duty.
