Grant Sought For Upgrades at Prichard Auditorium

 (KLZA) -- During the Department reports at Monday nights Falls City Council meeting, City Administrator Gary Jorn announced the City is in the process of applying for a Civic and Community Center Grant.  The application must be submitted by April 11th.  Jorn said if approved, the City would be upgrading Prichard Auditorium. Work would include improvements to the roof, sidewalks around the building and the entrance in addition to flooring improvements in the concession stand area and kitchen. If successful, the grant would require a 50-percent match by the City. 

During the department reports Jorn announced that after 38 years on the job as a Driver for the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department, Ralph Gilkerson has decided to retire.  May 24th will be his last day on the job.

Jorn also noted that work continues on the development of an employee handbook.  Currently it is being reviewed and will than go to the City Attorney for review before it comes before the Council for approval. 

The Council also conducted a public hearing on a resolution approving applying for a $6,500 Community Development Block Grant for Downtown Revitalization. Following the hearing the Council approved going forward with the application.  If approved it would require $1,700 in matching funds from the City.
